Prehospital Trauma Life Support for First Responders (PHTLS-FR)
PHTLS trauma care at the first responder level: bleeding control, airway basics and core trauma concepts for EMRs, fire, rescue and police.

Overview
An 8-hour classroom course that delivers PHTLS trauma content at the level first responders use: hemorrhage control, basic airway management and core trauma assessment, with skills demonstrations and scenario walk-throughs. A course manual is part of the program. Graduates receive a 4-year provider card, and EMS-licensed participants earn 8 hours of CAPCE CE.
What You Will Learn
- Recognize and control life-threatening bleeding
- Open and maintain an airway with basic adjuncts
- Perform a rapid trauma assessment and hand off to EMS

Questions About This Course
EMS-licensed participants earn 8 hours of CAPCE CE. Other responders receive the certificate and provider card.
